Southern Roots: The Edible Garden and Culinary Arts in the Classroom

June 12, 2014

Another great partnership between Legacy and the McDowell Farm School at Camp McDowell are coming together for another wonderful teacher workshop! We will explore where our food comes from by gathering vegetables and fruits in season and preparing or preserving them in the teaching kitchen. We will look at ways to understand food systems, how they connect to the natural world, and have fun on the farm!

Join us and discover ways to incorporate edible foods, pollinators, and cooking into your classroom!

Family Farm To Table Weekend

November 20, 2017 5pm

Enjoy a family friendly weekend of fun, food, and fellowship on the farm at Camp McDowell! All combinations and interpretations of families are welcome to experience this special retreat focussed on the care of creation in the beauty of "God's Backyard"!

Camp McDowell is beautiful in the fall! Rejuvenate your spirit in the clean, cool air; walk through our woods, play in our pastures, and watch the sun set over Sloan Lake. The feeling is easy-going, and the results will be restorative!

Our knowlegeable farm staff will guide you in planting, harvesting, and food preparation activities, as well as hands-on care of McDowell farm animals. We have goats, chickens, pigs, and some very cute rabbits. And, make no mistake, we are very serious about having fun!

This event is recommended for ages 6 and up.
